It has a nice vegetation cover that includes very huge baobab trees, large swamps and acacia woodland. There are also a number of very high termite mounds that are scattered across the park. During the dry season, the swamps and river Tarangire attract a very large number of wild animals, and because at the time the vegetation is thinning out, game viewing is very impressive. The park has one of the largest populations of the giant African elephants which can easily be sighted during the game drives. The African elephant is the largest living mammal on land, and the adult male ones can weigh up to seven tons. Some of the other animals you are likely to encounter in this park include: buffaloes, African lions, impalas, giraffes, cheetahs, warthogs, mongoose, red-bottomed baboons and ostriches. The greater kudu, fringe-eared Oryx and the Ashy starlings are among the unique wildlife species found in Tarangire National Park. Late afternoon you will leave Tarangire and drive to Karatu area where you will check in at a lodge . Dinner and overnight at Marera Valley Lodge or Country Lodge or similar.
