3-Day safari Tanzania – Detailed Itinerary

Day 01

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Pick up by your local safari guide from your hotel in Arusha very early in the morning. He will brief you about this exciting tour and then begin the drive to Tarangire National Park. Although this park is small, it offers very good views of wildlife. It has an impressive vegetation cover comprised of very big baobab trees, large swamps and acacia woodland. There are also a number of very high (nearly ‘two-story’) termite mounds that are scattered across the park. During the dry season, the swamps and river Tarangire attract a very large number of wild animals, and because at the time the vegetation is thinning out, game viewing is very impressive. The park has one of the largest populations of the giant African elephants which can easily be sighted during the game drives. The African elephant is the largest living mammal on land, and the adult male ones can weigh up to seven (7) tons. Some of the other animals you are likely to encounter in this park include: buffaloes, African lions, impalas, giraffes, cheetahs, warthogs, mongoose, red-bottomed baboons and ostriches. The greater kudu, fringe eared Oryx and the Ashy starlings are among the unique wildlife species found in Tarangire National Park. Later in the afternoon you will be transferred to your lodge in Karatu where you will check in for dinner and overnight. Overnight at Marera Valley Lodge.

Day 02

Full Day safari in Ngorongoro crater

You will begin the day with an early breakfast and then set out for a game drive before transferring to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Being a conservation area, people and wild animals harmoniously live within this area. As you drive through you will encounter the local Maasai people adorned in the colorful traditional wear herding large herds of cattle, and even see some of their traditional village settlements. You will proceed to the crater and drive down the 600 meter deep walls to the crater floor. Because of the very large number of wild animals and plant light found in this crater, and due to its high walls that hardly enable animals to move in and out of the crater, it has been rewarded a very unique name – ‘’africa’s Garden of Eden”. Once on the crater floor, you will embark on a game drive to see the various animals living here as well as see the numerous features found within the crater. It is approximated that there are more than 3,000 wild animals living on the crater floor among which are: large zebra herds, warthogs, the mysterious leopards, wildebeests, huge African elephants, jackals, elands, hyenas, buffaloes, cheetahs, lions as well as hippos. You will also visit the large but shallow Lake Magadi which is an alkaline lake that offers habitat to hippos and a large flock of flamingoes. Later in the afternoon you will transfer back to your same lodge for dinner. Overnight at Marera Valley Lodge.

Day 03

Explore Lake Manyara National Park, Departure

Very early in the morning you will transfer to Lake Manyara National Park where you will enjoy several game drives. The shores of this beautiful lake attract very many species of the birds. Unique about this park is that it is home to one of the two populations of the unique tree climbing lions (which actually if lucky you will be able to see). There are also several large mammals living her which you will be able to encounter during the game drives. In the afternoon, you will be transferred back to Arusha town where our Safari will end.
