This 6 Day best of Tanzania wildlife Safari will take you to the prime national parks along the northern Tanzania Safari Circuit. You will encounter most of Africa’s Big Five animals among which are buffaloes, elephants, African leopard and buffaloes in addition to several large predators like lions, and not to forget the countless number of grazers and birds. The safari will begin in Arusha Town, take you to Lake Manyara home to one of the two populations of the unique tree-climbing lions and thousands of flamingoes, proceed to the endless plains of the Serengeti NP best known for its annual wildebeest migration where you can have a Hot-Air Balloon Safari, then descend the 600m deep walls of the Ngorongoro Crater floor which is home to more than 3,000 wild animals, before going to Tarangire National Park home to one of Africa’s largest elephant populations. The safari will then end in Arusha town where you can enjoy a city tour (optional).

5-Day Tanzania safari; Detailed itinerary

Day 01

Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha town early in the morning by our representative who will be your safari guide and driver. He will brief you about the safari before beginning the drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Unique about this park is that it is home to one of the two populations of the unique tree climbing lions .When you arrive in the park, proceed to your accommodation where you will check-in, have lunch and later set off on a game drive to explore this beautiful wildlife sanctuary. Lake Manyara National Park has several wildlife habitats that protect different wildlife including the large flocks of pink flamingoes, a very big population of the huge African elephants. Late afternoon you will be taken to your lodge in the Karatu area, Ngorongoro Highlands.

Day 02

Karatu - transfer to Serengeti National Park

Today morning right after breakfast, you will checkout of you lodge and begin the journey to the wildlife swarmed plains of Serengeti.  Along the way, you will drive through the Karatu farmland and the Conservation Area. Once in the Serengeti, you will be impressed by the size of these endless plains. You will proceed to the Seronera area found in the central part of the park, which has a great diversity of wildlife habitats that support a very large number of wild animals. River Seronera is also found within this area and it not only provides water to the surrounding area but also attracts a very large number of wild animals especially in the dry season thus offering great wildlife views.

You will later head to your accommodation where you will enjoy a nice hot lunch and later proceed for an afternoon game drive in the park. At the end of the day you will drive back to your overnight accommodation to freshen up and have dinner. Overnight at Tukaone Serengeti Camp or similar camp.

Day 03

Enjoy Wildlife Safari in Serengeti

Today is dedicated to exploring the vast endless plains of the Serengeti Park. You will have breakfast very early in the morning and set out on an early game drive with well packed lunch boxes. During the game drives you will explore various circuits within the park among which is the River Sogore Circuit which circles through the endless plains all the way to the southern sector of the Seronera River. This river attracts a very large number of animals especially in the dry season which congregate to drink water. You will later proceed to the visitor’s center which has a gift shop where you can purchase some Souvenirs, obtain a lot of resourceful information about the park and even enjoy your lunch. The center has great views of wildlife.

Later on in the afternoon you will set out for another game drive to search for more animals within this park. Some of the animals you will see today include: lions, topi, Thompson’s gazelles, cheetahs, elands, giraffes, impalas, zebras and so many others.

Today you will have an opportunity to enjoy a Hot Air Balloon Safari (this is optional at extra cost) in the morning during which you will glide over the endless plains as you enjoy an aerial view of the large number of animals right below you. At the end of it you will have a champagne breakfast.

In the evening you will return to your lodge for dinner and the overnight. Second overnight stay at Tukaone Serengeti Camp.

Day 04

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Very early in the morning you will head out for a final game drive in the Serengeti to enjoy a last glimpse of the Serengeti wildlife. There will be an optional Hot-Air balloon safari. You will later return for a late breakfast at your accommodation, check-out and then set out to the Ngorongoro Crater Area.

When you arrive at your accommodation, you check-in, have lunch and later drive down the walls of the popular Ngorongoro Crater. The crater walls are 600 meters deep. Once on the crater floor, you will embark on a game drive to see the various animals living here as well as see the numerous features found within the crater. It is approximated that there are more than 3,000 wild animals living on the crater floor among which are: large zebra herds, warthogs, the mysterious leopards, wildebeests, huge African elephants, jackals, elands, hyenas, buffaloes, cheetahs, lions as well as hippos. You will also visit the large but shallow Lake Magadi which is an alkaline lake that offers habitat to hippos and a large flock of flamingoes.

You will later return to your overnight accommodation to freshen up and have dinner. Overnight at Marera Valley Lodge or Country Lodge or similar.

Day 05

Karatu to Tarangire National Park

Today you will have breakfast and then transfer to Tarangire National Park. This park has an impressive vegetation cover comprised of very big baobab trees, large swamps and acacia woodland. There are also a number of very high (nearly ‘two-story’) termite mounds that are scattered across the park. During the dry season, the swamps and river attract a very large number of wild animals, and because at the time the vegetation is thinning out, game viewing is very impressive. The park has one of the largest populations of the giant African elephants which can easily be sighted during the game drives. The African elephant is the largest living mammal on land, and the adult male ones can weigh up to seven (7) tons. Some of the other animals you are likely to encounter in this park include: buffaloes, African lions, impalas, giraffes, cheetahs, warthogs, mongoose, red-bottomed baboons and ostriches. The greater kudu, fringe eared Oryx and the Ashy starlings are among the unique wildlife species found in Tarangire National Park. You will check in at a tented camp in the evening for dinner and overnight. Overnight stay at Baobab Tarangire Tented Camp.

Day 06

Tarangire National Park - back to Arusha - End of tour

This being the final day of our safari, you will enjoy a nice breakfast and take a last game drive in Tarangire National Park before driving back to Arusha town where this safari will end. In Arusha, there will be an optional city tour before you are transferred to the airport. This will mark the end of our amazing best of Tanzania 6 day safari.
